Saltwater in his veins!!
Not only did Philippe start sailing at the age
of seven as his father did, but that Philippe
also happens to  be a descendant of the
famous French "Corsaire"  Francois Ripaud
De Montaudevert. 1755-1814

A "Corsaire" "Filibuster" or "Privateer" was
issued letters of mark by the government to
differentiate them from Pirates whose captured
treasures never made it to the Kings coffers.

Pinel Island
Pinel Island was named after
Monsieur Pinel a "Filibuster".
Commander Pinel  arrived in
Martinique aboard the
Volante in
March of 1694. Privateers were
considered heroes of their host

TAX
There is a $2 Tax when visiting
Tintamarre collected by the charters for
every person visiting the island on
behalf of the French Gov't. Tintamarre is
part of  St.Martin's  nature preserve.
You can see one of the signs on the
road driving towards Club O near the
salt ponds, and on Tintamarre.
Dolphins, sea turtles and spotted eagle
rays inhabit the reserve and can be
observed on occasion...
The origin of TIKO TIKO
Capitaine Philippes little brother
Alexandre inspired the name. He used
to call the horses that trotted by their
country home TikO TiKO because of
the sound their hooves made on the
road. When they went aboard the
Catamaran for the first time Alexandre
found it moved on the waves much
like the horses....and so...TikO TikO
was christened.....
The rooster and the peacock
Name Game
....
Those of you that have visited the island
know of this odd couple....Let's give
them a name....send us your
suggestions....info@tikotikocruises.com
